Introduction

Welcome to GLOWry! We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our app.

Information We Collect

User-Provided Data

  • Optional first name for personalized greetings
  • Spiritual themes and goals to customize daily content
  • Preferred Bible translation (King James Version or World English Bible)
  • Journal entries and reflections stored privately on your device
  • Streak data to track your daily practice consistency

Automatically Collected Data

  • Anonymous usage analytics (screen views, session duration, feature usage) to improve the app
  • Subscription status via RevenueCat (subscription tier, renewal status)
  • Device information (iOS version, device type) for compatibility and support

Third-Party Services

  • Apple Sign In: Secure authentication with optional email/name
  • Apple iCloud: Private sync of your data to your personal iCloud account
  • RevenueCat: Subscription verification and management
  • App Store: Payment processing (we never see your payment details)

Journal entries remain completely private. We cannot access the content of your reflections.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Personalize greetings and tailor Scripture, affirmations, and prayer themes to your selected preferences
  • Store reflections privately on your device and optionally sync to your iCloud account
  • Remember your preferences (notifications, translation, themes, dyslexia-friendly fonts)
  • Track streak progress and celebrate milestones
  • Collect anonymous usage analytics to improve GLOWry's features and performance
  • Provide customer support when you contact us

We never sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data Retention

  • Journal entries: Remain on your device and in your iCloud (if enabled) until you delete them
  • User preferences: Remain while your account is active
  • Account data: Deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Anonymous analytics: Retained for up to two years for app improvement purposes

Data Security

We protect your data with:

  • Encryption in transit via HTTPS for all network communications
  • Encryption at rest using iOS system-level protections
  • iCloud sync keeps journal data inside your personal iCloud account—we cannot access it
  • Face ID / Touch ID protection for app access (optional)
  • Regular security updates and monitoring

Analytics, Notifications & Subscriptions

Analytics

We collect only anonymous, non-personally identifiable analytics including:

  • Screen views and navigation patterns
  • App performance metrics (crashes, load times)
  • Subscription events (trial starts, conversions, cancellations)

We do NOT collect:

  • Journal content or reflections
  • Location data
  • Personal identifiers linked to analytics

Notifications

  • Notifications are scheduled locally on your device
  • We honor iOS Focus modes and Do Not Disturb settings
  • Daily reminders and evening recaps are optional and can be disabled
  • No notification content is sent to or stored on our servers

Subscriptions

  • Purchases occur through Apple App Store
  • We never see or store your payment details
  • RevenueCat validates your subscription status securely
  • You can manage subscriptions in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions

iCloud Sync

iCloud sync is optional and can be enabled/disabled at any time.

When enabled:

  • Your journal entries, preferences, and streak data sync to your personal iCloud account
  • Data is encrypted and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
  • We cannot access your iCloud data—it exists only in your personal Apple ecosystem

You can disable sync in the app's Profile settings.

International Use

GLOWry operates in the United States. By using the app outside the US, you consent to data transfer and storage in the US under this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

Children's Privacy

GLOWry is designed for users aged 17+. If a parent or guardian creates an account for a child, the parent/guardian is responsible for managing that account and consenting to data collection on the child's behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and review your data within the app (Profile, Journal, Library)
  • Delete your account and data at any time via Profile > Delete Account
  • Request an export of your data by emailing privacy@glowryfaith.com
  • Opt out of optional features (notifications, iCloud sync, analytics)
  • Correct inaccurate data by editing your profile in-app

California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: Request what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal data, so no opt-out is necessary
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights

To submit a CCPA request, email privacy@glowryfaith.com with "CCPA Request" in the subject line.

European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK:

  • We process data based on your consent and our legitimate interest in providing services
  • You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing
  • You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
  • Data transfers to the US are conducted under appropriate safeguards

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements.

When we make material changes:

  • We will update the "Last Updated" date
  • We will post updates in the app
  • We will notify you via in-app message (if you have notifications enabled)

Continued use of GLOWry after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
